With the release of his self-titled debut LP last week, James Blake makes the leap from club DJ and dubstep producer to mainstream success with an album full of ethereal electronic pop that often sounds, to put it simply, sad."Wilhelm's Scream" is composed of little more than Blake's vocals, a modest synth line, and a few claps and taps, and is a good representation of the album's overall tone. "Limit to Your Love" is a haunting stripped-down rendition of Feist's complaint to a lover who can't commit. "Case of You" (live on BBC Radio) is not on the album, but this completely deconstructed Joni Mitchell cover is well worth listening to and adding to your music library.
James Blake is available now on iTunes.
