Last year, I stumbled across Pogo's video for "Alice" and it sort of blew my mind. The song is composed entirely of soundbites from Disney's Alice in Wonderland and the video is spliced together clips from the film. I was struck by how those long-forgotten images and sounds were instantly recognizable and by how, in their remixed state, they had me glued to the screen once again. I also questioned why my parents would repeatedly play such a dark and trippy movie for me during the critical developmental years of my life.
Pogo's latest video and track, "Wishery," remix Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to similar effect. Watch the videos for "Wishery" and "Alice" below, and download "Wishery" from Pogo's website. I have also included Pogo's video for "Expialidocious," which remixes Mary Poppins. I was not a fan of that movie myself (or Snow White for that matter), but I know that many people were and the track is excellent nonetheless. I'm not sure which animated classics Pogo plans to remix in the future, but I hope Transformers: The Movie (the one from 1986 that's awesome) is on that list.
