This is refreshing. No rapper trying to sing a hook. No featured R&B artist singing a hook. No talking over the beat to remind us who's rapping or about to rap. Just a good sample, a dope beat, and 9 minutes of straight rhymin'.

When I first heard Actual Proof's "Super Genius" on 2dopeboyz, I decided that I needed to share it. After hearing Actual Proof's other offerings, I decided that everyone not familiar with them needs to get familiar promptly.
According to their Facebook page, “This trio consists of three beatmakers and two emcees, raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and bred on classic soul, funk, jazz, and hip hop.” They joined 9th Wonder's It's a Wonderful World Music Group label, after visiting 9th's "Hip Hop in Context" course at North Carolina Central University, where one of the members was enrolled. Under 9th's tutelage, they've created a sound that reflects hip hop's emceeing roots while being very much of this moment.
